Privacy policy

This policy explains how the Idle & Awake channel site ("we", "us") handles information when you visit this website.

1. What we collect

We don't ask you to create an account, and we don't run comment forms or newsletters. We do not collect your name or email unless you email us.

Ask the tiger. The question box on the home page does not send anything to this website. Pressing "Send it to the tiger" opens your own email app with your question (and the name or handle you typed, if any) filled in. Nothing is sent until you send that email yourself, and then we receive it like any other email. If we answer your question in a video, we show only the name or handle you asked us to credit.

Technical data. Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information needed to deliver pages safely — such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested — for security, abuse prevention and aggregate traffic statistics.

Analytics. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without tracking you across sites. We may also use Google Analytics 4 to see which episodes are useful. It sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) and reports visits in aggregate; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are measured without analytics cookies unless they consent. You can opt out on any site with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

2. Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site may display ads from Google AdSense. When it does:

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Ads Settings.
You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Third parties may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons or IP addresses, to collect information as a result of ad serving on this site.

Where required by law (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), we will ask for your consent before personalized ads are shown.

3. Embedded videos

Each episode page shows a still image of the video. Nothing from YouTube loads until you press play; then the player is loaded from youtube-nocookie.com, and Google's privacy policy applies to the player.

4. Affiliate links

Some pages link to books and products on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. When you click such a link, Amazon may set cookies to attribute the purchase; Amazon's own privacy notice applies on its site. See our affiliate disclosure.

5. Support buttons

The "Buy Me a Coffee" panel loads Buy Me a Coffee's own page only after you click the button; nothing from Buy Me a Coffee loads before that. Their privacy policy applies inside the panel. The Ko-fi link simply opens Ko-fi's website.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Because we collect very little directly, most requests will relate to analytics or advertising cookies, which you can control as described above. For anything else, contact pp.idleawake@gmail.com.

7. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. External links

Episodes link to their sources and to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

9. Changes

We may update this policy when our services or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
